three for the emcees mean-muggin' on posters
four for the bars that i spit in multiples
five for the ones that joined up from the hospital
six for almost home
and seven for the days that the lessons let go
twenty-five for the years with mistakes
before you know it we'll be counting twenty-eight
four for the years i paid to drop out
five for the homes that meant more than couch
three for the ones i let slip through the fingers
and dozens for the ones who didn't even reach a linger
slim for the friends inside the circle
six for the ones that stay close with no reversal
three-six-five for the hurdle of rehearsal
infinity for solving all the universal
